Economic development professionals with Parker Poe Consulting worked with Protego (USA) to help secure favorable site and business terms to build a tank and flammable vapor processing safety equipment manufacturing facility in North Charleston.
The $3.7 million investment will lead to the creation of 17 new jobs, producing specialized products such as flame and detonation arresters and low-pressure tank vents for use at refineries, chemical plants and off-shore drilling platforms.
The assembly and sales operation will be at Landmark Business Park in North Charleston, a location that provides accessibility to local suppliers and to the Port of Charleston.
Protego (USA) President Chris Mason says the location’s logistics and business conditions were key factors in choosing the site to move forward on its strategy for growth in the North American market. The new facility will join the German parent company’s existing operations in Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
